This is also supported by the absorption spectrum for chlorophyll a, which shows that this pigment absorbs light most efficiently in the red and blue-violet parts of the spectrum, with very little absorption in the green-yellow range. Therefore, green-yellow light is reflected by the chlorophyll and not readily used by the plant for photosynthesis.
