Three processes are involved in the formation of urine in the nephrons of the kidney. During filtration, water and small particles move into the tubule. Substances are then reabsorbed into the blood or secreted from the blood into the urine. Substances which are secreted into the filtrate in the distal tubule include hydrogen ion, uric acid, and ammonia.
