Ellen,a university student,was shopping at her favourite supermarket to stock up on certain items before the exam stretch began.She noticed that the store had recently opened a fast-food counter where customers could select from a variety of products to eat in the store or take home.Since Ellen was busy studying for her first exam,she thought she would take something home for dinner.She noticed the sign at the counter advertised hot chili made from fresh ingredients.Ellen ordered a tub of chili.The container had writing on it that said that the chili was made from grade A beef,fresh beans,tomatoes,garlic,onions,and spices.Ellen had a fairly common allergy to peanuts,which caused her throat to swell and cut off her breathing.Having checked the container,she found nothing unusual in the ingredients mentioned.After eating the chili,however,Ellen had a severe reaction and had to be rushed to the hospital.She later discovered that the store used peanut butter as a thickener in the chilli,which was apparently not an uncommon practice.
