After you select the settings you want, to print a document, click the Print button in the center pane on the ____ tab in Backstage view.

Clicking the Print button in the center pane on the Print tab in Backstage view is the final step to actually print the document with the selected settings. Choosing any of the other options (View or Preview) would not result in the document being printed. The File tab is where you begin to access the Backstage view, but it is not where you go to actually print the document.
