Generalization, which occurs during the conclusion phase of a study, is the practice of making a statement about the larger population based on your sample data. If your sample group is an accurate representation of the larger population, a generalized statement should apply to the entire population. For example, if you found that children in a sample group did better in school when parents assisted with homework, then you could make the generalization that children in the larger population also do better in school when parents help with homework.
