The Pullman Strike was settled in 1894, seven years before Theodore Roosevelt occupied the White House. Roosevelt's presidency is regarded as one of the most successful in American history. It was highlighted by progressive policies in myriad areas. In 1902, he brokered the end to the Anthracite Coal Strike, which, had it not been settled, would have kept most Americans from being able to heat their homes that winter.
