It was determined that two elements directly influenced CR-personal factors (i.e., self-efficacy, motivation) and social support (i.e., family, friends, and peers). Personal factors that acted as facilitators of CR included participants' sense of self-efficacy, motivation to be productive, and ability to self-regulate and set goals. Social support and connections with others acted as both barriers and facilitators of CR. Spouses and children often facilitated the Veterans' participation in community activities. Connecting with Veteran peers provided an opportunity to regain a sense of personal identity as part of the military family.
