Since I wasn't the oldest or the youngest. Whenever we would come for a visit. She would always have a pot of chicken and dumplings ready. Which was my favorite dish. I know she made this especially for me. Because no one else really liked it. To show her love for me. She would always make me a special toy. One year she made me a doll out of old scraps and yarn. I still have that doll. And plan to someday give it to my children. Her quilts are my favorite gift, however. Working her fingers raw. She would spend hours sewing the little pieces of the quilts together. While the other grandchildren didn't take an interest in my grandmother's cooking and crafts. I was fascinated by them. I think Grandmother liked me the best because I genuinely appreciated and loved all that she did for me.
