Dizygotic (fraternal) twin concordance is about 10%. This may not seem very high at first glance, but it is about 100 times higher than the risk of autism in someone from the general population. That is a huge difference and indicates that autism is probably highly heritable. The increased incidence of ASD among males compared with females suggests a possible biologic contribution but not necessarily a genetic contribution.
