The Answer is Deforestation cuts down acres and acres of trees and other plants. As we know from the water cycle, plants, especially large trees, take up water from underground reserves (transpiration) and release it back into the atmosphere (evaporation). If these plants were no longer present and able to do this process, the water cycle would be broken and less freshwater would fall from the clouds to the Earth's surface, resulting in lower ground water supplies in more areas.
