The Answer is Outdoor air pollution is responsible for at least 3.7 million deaths, and indoor air pollution accounts for at least 4.3 million premature deaths annually. In developing countries, such as many countries in Africa, indoor air pollution-caused death is higher due to the burning of wood, charcoal, and animal waste for heat and for cooking. Since the typical home is not very large in many of these communities, the density of smoke and particles in the small space is very high. For high-income countries, which are typically more developed, you see more outdoor air pollution-caused deaths due to vehicle and industrial emissions.
