Alexander the Great was from Macedon. He was the son of Philip II of Macedon who spent 20 years conquering Greek city-states until he united all of Greece under the rule of the League of Corinth. Alexander's own conquests ultimately made him the Pharaoh of Egypt and King of Persia, in addition to being the King of Macedonia and Greece. He was an ambitious leader and had designs on adding India to his kingdom, but failed in that attempt. He ruled for 13 years.
